Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evince
After recent updates to CUPS, I lost the ability to print from Evince to
a printer installed on a Windows 200 machine via Samba support in CUPS.
Error message reads "too many failed attempts" Oddly, once in a great
many attempts the print works but seemingly without a pattern. No
discernible errors in logs that I can tell. Other applications print
correctly such as Acroread and OOo apps.
Setup:
Ubuntu Intrepid, up-to-date patches
Windows 2000 hosting Samsung ML-1710 laser printer via std Windows Printer
sharing
CUPS: added printer via Printers applet with hard coded username-password
access to printer.
