Public bug reported:
Whenever the workspace switcher applet is removed, after the workspace
row count is set to >1, logging off causes that row count information to
be lost.
It appears that the storage and management of the workspace layout
information is somehow tied to the workspace switcher applet existence.
Ubuntu Jaunty Alpha 3, gnome-applets for all versions known.
