I did a clean install of Ubuntu 8.10 and have never been able to see the
"on battery" tab in gnome-power-manager. Now sometimes when I shut down
I get a message saying "gnome-power-manager is not responding" then it
asks me what I want to do. For along time I my laptop would just shut
off because my battery was dead and I was not alerted of it. A couple
of times I didn't even realise I was unplugged because my screen
wouldn't even dim. Now for some reason it has started to dim but I am
still not able to access the on battery tab. I have a Dell Latitude
120L
