By default, the main panel in ubuntu 8.10 comes with a background image
applied. Upon altering the preferences for said panel to have none (a
solid color), closing the preference window, then re-entering the
preference window and selecting background image as my preference, the
original image is re-applied, even though the file chooser widget does
not currently have the location of the original image loaded.

In other words, it seems that the preference window is simply not re-
loading the stored values.
