Totem Movie Player crash and freezes the Laptop while oppening an audio

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 und GNOME 2.22.3.

I have just installed this version from the CD and did an update of the
standard package using the update manager.
While trying to open an audio file, Totem Media Player is executed but
freezes the whole PC, I need to manually switch my laptop off and then
cold start to get it back in hand.
