New install of Ubuntu 8.1. (installed on Gateway LT Solo5300, 900MHz,
512M SDRAM - 11/20/08)

While setting up preferences I browsed through the screen savers just to
see what's avail. When I hilited 'Voronoi', the system locked up and
could not do anything either with kybd or mouse. Had to power down to
reboot. Each time I tried to access the screen saver to change the
selection, it would lock up the system requiring a power down to get
out.

I am running in a home network via wireless wifi connection using a
Motorola WN825G. Have experienced no problems in the short time I have
been running Ubuntu up until this incident with the screensaver.

I am new to Ubuntu and linux, so navigating about the system is
unfamiliar territory to say the least. Will provide whatever info I can.

1) Release: 8.10 intrepid ibex
2) version of pkg: ?
3) expected to be able to preview the screen saver
4) system locked up - required power down to enable booting the system

** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
