Fair enough.

My point was just that it seems if we are going to invest work to solve
this, we should invest in supporting the non-compositor case, thus
solving the problem for all users, rather than working to make a few
more computers run with compositing, and incurring the risk involved in
making such a change at such a late stage.


Would it be possible to detect that there is no compositing and simply make the 
notifications disappear altogether in that case, as apposed to leaving the 
outline of the notification? I think that my be at the heart of the complaint 
for the bug.
