I own a IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop. I have installed 8.10 as a dual boot
with Windows XP sp2. I have noticed twice that when I have experimented
with the screen resolution in Unbuntu 8.10, and back to the orginal 1024
x 768, the desktop freezes. A part of the dialog box for the screen
resolution still appears. The trackball mouse still is active. However,
there is no way that I can navigate through any programmes, the drop
down menu or to attempt to shutdown. The only way I can solve this
situation is by removing the laptop battery.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
