Im running an older toshiba sattelite 1400 series,1.5 ghz,512 mb ram,my os of
choice is ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex, ive had no real issues or crashes or
hanging or other problems other people are having, almost seems trivial in
comparison,my os is set for auto updates, and have all installed, and no error
messages at all, just cant burn dvd discs,oh and wont recognize my flashdrive
for usb, minor stuff,i probably formated the flashdrive in windows, theres no
drivers avail for it,if you can help great but i can definetly live with it,im
so happy,...
windows vista did auto updates too,on my other computer,it installed
servicepack 3 and the computer crashed instantly upon gui when rebooting, then
the deadly blue screen, then black screen, then nothing, like it was
frozen, nothing but complaints about my harddrive, windows would not start, cant
reinstall it,thought it ate my harddrive,i tried, cuz i didnt know what to do,i
installed another version of linux,Kubuntu ,the new one 8.something,it saved my
computer from certain death, fixed the harddrive errors installed runs fine and
very stable, trouble seting up network only issue,i dont know enuff yet
to fix that...thanks you guys are amazing,do take a bow!...ed
