I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my machine with an ASUS X-Fi DX sound card. When I
try to change the volume with the slider the range is compressed into
the top 25% of the bar.
That is to say, when the slider is from 0%-75% the volume is at 0. At
100% the volume is at 100, and between 75%-100% the volume ranges from
0-100.
Needless to say this is very frustrating as this problem causes me to
lose granularity in my volume control. I basically only have the ability
to set it to volumes 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 (due to the slider locking in
place at certain intervals).
