See attached screen shot of Jaunty Alpha-6. There should be no separator
between the NM applet and the other applets.

+ 1. Install Jaunty Alpha 6
+ 2. Start Pidgin
+ 3. Set pidgen to "Show system tray icon" to be never

+ Observe the seperator.
