Hi we replicated the problem with the sound today. I took the Netbook into the dealer and they reinstalled the Ubuntu from the recovery disk supplied with the Netbook. The sound worked well. We tested it at their facilities and I tested it at home.
I then received a notification that there are security upgrades available. I ran upgrade manager and 161 suggested upgrades were suggested. I let the upgrade manager do the upgrades. I then found an hour later that the we have the same problems with the sound as previously. This is a problem for me as I use my Netbook daily and want to make sure the security updates are in place but loose the sound functionality in the process.
