Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

After upgrading my Intrepid installation to Jaunty gnome-sound-
properties doesn't seem to open reliably. It doesn't matter if I open it
through the command line, the Preferences/Sound menu or through gnome-
control-center.

I have managed to get the window to open once or twice, but most of the
time it simply fails to open, without error messages. When running
gnome-sound-properties from the command line there are no error
messages, except for a few deprecation warnings relating to the theme in
use.

When the window does open everything seems to work fine. I have multiple
sound cards in my machine, if that is significant. ALSA, OSS and
PulseAudio are installed.

How could I debug the issue? I am a professional programmer, but this is
not my area of expertise. I have yet to notice this issue with any of
the other control windows.

Also, the volume control applet doesn't seem to work. (Nothing seems to
happen when I add it.) Is this related or possibly a separate issue?

         Status: New
