I like to save bookmarks to shortcut files on my desktop. Usually, I can drag the icon from the left of the address bar to my desktop, and it will create a link on the desktop that points to that URL. Sometimes this works, and sometimes it doesn't. Example URL's that DO work: http://lwn.net/Articles/320446/ http://sillyliquifytrick.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-about-that.html Example URL's that DO NOT work: http://lifehacker.com/5113886/top-10-ways-to-lock-down-your-data http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/asus-eee-pc-1000he.aspx When I drag these icons to the desktop, I get a pop-up box that says: Error while copying. There was an error getting information about "asus-eee-pc-1000he.aspx". v Show more details HTTP Error: Message Corrupt I have not determined a pattern to when it will work and when it will not. Running on Ubuntu 8.10, gnome, no visual effects enabled, firefox 3.0.7.
