Gimp does not follow instructions either (in gnome). On my Canon IP4000, if you select things like lower tray it ignores that and simply prints on the upper tray (this works correctly under kde BTW). On evolution something different happens, select duplex and that is ignored, landscape and it prints landscape - but in the middle of a portrait page. It has 'button select' selected and observes that (whereas on the gimp it always uses upper tray).
