Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is happening to me too often. Nautilus can mount, browse and do
everything normally with sftp locations. copying files to remote sftp
locations is okay. On moving a file or a directory or a bunch of both,
it crashes when copying is done and it was removing the local copy.

I'm using 2.24 nautilus on Ubuntu 8.10 on two different machines. Both
have had this issue. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's happening
too frequently.
