That's incorrect.  gthumb works just fine with libgphoto2, as long as
GVFS doesn't interfere by mounting the camera to desktop.

I'd also like to see such a "majority of user" confirm that there is no
regression since the introduction of GVFS, before anyone goes and makes
a generalization about everything working just fine for everyone else.
