Here is the valgrind log. The system monitor became unresponsive and fail to update screen a minute or two in, so I was not able to get any information from it, but memory was being consumed. Just recently my other applications became highly unresponsive, so I shut them down, waiting until the last to kill the system monitor. In response to Sebastian, I thought multiload-applet-2 was something that the gnome toolbars used.
