Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon
I'm using 9.04 beta and so far it's been great. The main user on the
computer works great. I tried making a second user for my wife but the
themes don't work. When I try to open the Appearance program it says
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without
the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take
effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g.
KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the
GNOME settings manager."
Again, everything works good with the user I set up upon installation,
it's just the user I set up for my wife that is causing the problems.
I've tried deleting the user and the corresponding home directory and
re-establishing the user but that didn't fix the problem. I've tried
deleting all the hidden folders (folder's starting with a ".") in the
home directory. I've tried setting up the second user with admin
privileges.
This was a clean install of 9.04.
