I have exactly the same problem using a gmail account. I often attach .pdf file in my mail and it seems it success not all the time, but it is really a problem for me. I send an email today using my gmail account and the receiver says me he was not able to read it, so I open my "sent" directory using gmail website and the attached file is well named in "xxxx.pdf".
