It's normal that libgnomeprintui ignore lpoptions, that lib has nothing to do 
with it.
libgnomeprint should not have to interact with lpoptions, but it's too late to 
do anything.

For informations :
~/.cups/lpoptions is changed by gnome-cups-manager when used normally by the 
user
/etc/cups/ppd/  drivers are changed by gnome-cups-manager run as ROOT or by 
cups web interface.

It's clear that a quick work around for this bug is to always run gnome-
cups-manager as root (using gksudo). Pitti ?!

The best is to find where user options are lost. May be libgnomeprintui
forgot to return all options passed for dialogs or ...
