I kind of traced the bug back to kde support in gnome. It only happens when i open a file from an FTP server with quanta,
Quanta loads, but fails to spwan the kwallet password management dialog, and instead hangs. This only happens if i open 2 quanta screens at the same time while not having unlocked the kwallet keyring. Usually this results in a 100% cpu load for qaunta, and a bunch of ftp related kde_io slaves idling. Killing the process trough the process manager works, but is a b*tch because there's so many small processes. In other cases quanta gets killed, and nautilus just hangs. In that case (always on an ftp dir), i can kill nautilus by clicking the close button, and then allowing it be killed. This results in all of gnome freezing. gpanel, desktop etc etc. Non gnome Programs allready open, will work as a charm though. There's obviously some other process freezing. Which in turn makes nautilus unresponsive, and also stops the rest. If i do not kill nautilus i can still use the rest of gnome. (but not spawn any new nautilus windows) -- nautilus crash, blocks gpanel https://launchpad.net/bugs/47256 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
