I have noticed this too - the problem is the user might not realize this delayed write (async?) behavior is used and think their files have finished copying when in fact it hasn't actually started.
Possibly a dialog should pop up when a USB disk is mounted with something like "This device uses delayed write: Any changes will be made when the device is unmounted. Make sure to unmount the device before disconnecting the cable or removing the device" Also as an aside - why is the delayed write used - it's not the default behaviour in Windows (where you can just remove the device once the file copy dialog disappears) and could be confusing for migrating users. -- make clear to users that devices need to be unmount before beeing unpluged https://launchpad.net/bugs/35222 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
