I'm checking this in a fresh instalation of Ubuntu Jaunty (stable) plus the last updated (the result is the same that before the update). The version of Gconf is: 2.26.0-0ubuntu1 If you check in gconf-editor or with gconttool-2 (from a non-English environment) any gconf key's description you'll get always in English.
