Binary package hint: gnome-utils
Use gnome-screenshot to take a screenshot while playing a video and a
black space will appear where the video was playing. Example image
attached below.
This has been tested using both totem 1.4.1-0ubuntu4 and vlc 0.8.4
.debian-1ubuntu6 using the following file formats:
.ogg (Video codec: Theora)
.mpg (Video codec: MPEG-1 video)
.avi (Video codec: XVID MPEG-4)
