You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: totem
There are clearly deep problems in the Jaunty audio system, I'm reporting this as a symptom. At the moment, flash audio works fine, but totem is showing the visualization and producing no sound. Totem has no control to see what it thinks it is doing, what audio system it thinks it is using, or anything about why it might not be working. There is no error message about the situation, but it seems to know something is up because the volume control is disabled.
