If you use the following:
Gnome panel (with Evolution calendar applet as ubuntu default)
Evolution with Google Calendars (or presumably other CalDAV)
Then:
Clicking on the Gnome panel calendar applet before launching Evolution causes
the desktop to freeze.
Presumably this is because Evolution has not been launched, and has not
yet connected to the CalDAV calendar, but the panel applet tries to load
the CalDAV calendar.
