Can I ask developers, what are the plans for this feature? Will it be
implemented in Karmic? Will there be an option to disable it? By
default, turned on or off?

Many people, as Textureglitch noticed, click the file twice to make sure it's
selected because they know about focus issues in Windows (e.g. one cannot
scroll content in window which is inactive). If they got into rename mode by
accident and want to get out, the natural way for them is to click on some
empty area in the same window. In list view in Nautilus it's impossible,
because often there is NO empty area (and Vista has some free space at sides of
the list).
One more question: if one want to rename file by clicking twice, after what
time he should click the second time? If he clicks too fast, he will open the
file.

Considering all the above, I think this feature, if it is to be
implemented, should be turned OFF by default.

@granadajose: Yeah, it's a standard, but is it really useful?
