I've do some research today about this problem as I find it really annoying.
On my side the problem wasn't solved in Jaunty. Rythmbox or Tomet was using 17% of the CPU. My research lead my to alsa. It's seams to be an issue of the sample rate withing the dmix of default alsa device use by gstreamer.
