The bug was easily reproduced in 8.10 and there were probably 15-20 people who emailed me personally about it. It seems to be fixed in 9.04..
HOWEVER!!! Now ACPI events (or other) are not working with closing lid and initiating suspend/sleeps. Also power buttons are not being seen by Gnome and are not keying up the software mixer.
