*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 48876 *** if your login shell is bash, check if you have a .bashrc file (just in case you are new to gnome, nautilus hides files starting with a dot, use CTRL+H to sho them).
altough i haven't checked, the same alias command in a .bashrc file would most probably cause the sameproblem, i guess the gnome-session command (or any associated script) is using ls instead of /bin/ls which causes this to happen. also, if you are using another shell than bash/sh, you might want to look into the man page to see what startup files you shell uses (most probably not .profile).
