Yes. Today I downloaded Ubuntu 9.04 and booted from a CD ROM. The CD-ROM contained gstreamer-properties so I was able to test directly for the problem reported above. I tested the video input and everything seemed to work fine. After the test I received at the terminal the following error message: "libv4l2: error converting / decoding frame data: v4l-convert: error parsing JPEG header: Not a JPG file ?". I am not sure that this means anything because the test did work. I saw my self in glorious colour while testing the video input. I conclude that the problem exists in 8.04 but not in the more recent version 9.04. But given that 8.04 is a long-term support version I hope that the fix can be brought back to the Hardy Heron.
