Following the lead from Bhaskar, I get similar results running from another terminal (guake) -->
robe...@loaner:~$ gnome-terminal --save-config=from-guake ^C robe...@loaner:~$ cat from-guake #Written by GNOME Terminal 2.27.91 [GNOME Terminal Configuration] Version=1 CompatVersion=1 FactoryEnabled=true Windows= robe...@loaner:~$ A ^C required to get out, then half a file was written. But it doesn't look like it's being used --> robe...@loaner:~$ gnome-terminal --load-config=from-guake robe...@loaner:~$ Though the return is immediate and silent so difficult to tell what's going on. I don't understand Bhaskar how this can be considered to be working even if a couple of lines are written? I'd expect (bearing in mind I've never touched gnome-terminal code) that the terminal would start and allow normal operation, then would write out its config to file when exited. That file could then be referenced with the --load-config switch to create a new terminal with the same setup. Again - I'm not sure what the intent of these switches is so that's probably where it should start (my 2c only). It would be good if someone who knows would say what the options are supposed to do - if they are still relevant. Then we can just get on with fixing it to do the right thing.
