This is a far stretch for a bug report, but I am just reporting what I
experienced.
On a Jaunty Ubuntu 9.04 system, 64bit, Compiz disabled, nvidia driver
180.44 I had the following:
Rhythmbox was playing music constantly. I have several apps open:
Thunderbird, Firefox, Virtualbox with a virtual Ubuntu 9.10 with 512 MB
Ram, machine has 4GB of ram but reports only 3 GB, several other apps.
Randomly the system seems to freeze for a couple of seconds - no mouse
movement and music stops playing. Then it unfreezes and the mouse is
working again and the music continues. (The music is read from an NFS
mount).
No difference if the Virtualbox is running, or the virtualbox is running
with only 256 MB ram. When I switch apps, it freezes *almost* always. I
have also disabled swap as mem is on 70% only.
I have system monitor running, cpu is not at max.
This random freezes happen very often, sometimes while just typing email
or typing in firefox (both inside the host and the guest). Keyboard
repeats in the guest, like helllllllllllllllllllllo and stuff like that.
Totally weird.
After a couple of days (uptime system is 12 days) I decided to change
the update frequency of the system monitor from 1.25 to 0.25 and... the
problem went away! Then changed back to 1.25. And the problem did not
happen again (yet).
No clue. Could this be related to System Monitor??????????
I don't require an answer. I just want to report it.
