Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
Prior releases labeled gedit simply as Text Editor in the
Applications>Accessories menu. Karmic Alpha 5 is using lowercase gedit.
Upstream seems to prefer "gedit Text Editor" which is not consistent
with the other core components of a default GNOME desktop.
$ head -n 3 /usr/share/applications/gedit.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=gedit
GenericName=Text Editor
Contrast with OpenOffice.org Writer:
$ grep -m 1 Name /usr/share/applications/openoffice.org-writer.desktop && grep
-m 1 GenericName /usr/share/applications/openoffice.org-writer.desktop
Name=OpenOffice.org Word Processor
GenericName=Word Processor
I'm a creature of habit, so I prefer simply Text Editor, but if upstream
is to be appeased, wouldn't Gedit Text Editor with a capital G be more
appropriate and consistent?
