Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04
After a recent update I've noticed a number of things are
broken/changed:
1. My Fonts/Window decorations look wrong. (I can't quite tell you what's wrong
about them, but they changed slightly.)
2. All my shutdown options disappeared. I know the shutdown options were
removed from the System menu due to the Fast User Switch Applet, but they
aren't there either. When I click on that menu in the upper right corner I get
a blank menu that's a few pixels tall and a couple dozen wide. Pressing the
power button on my laptop also does a direct shutdown instead of pulling up the
shutdown menu as it used to. As a result I can't find anyway to
sleep/hibernate/lock/restart my computer. (I can do a reboot from the command
line, but I don't know how to do the others that way.)
3. All the keyboard shortcuts in gnome terminal now show as disabled. I was
previously able to copy/paste, change tabs, etc. with the keyboard. They all
show as disabled now.
4. The screen saver doesn't turn on anymore. After a long time the monitor goes
into power save, but the screen saver never appears.
5. The little power monitor applet disappeared from my panel.
I'm going to attach my /var/log/apt/term.log file. When I look at the
recent updates there I don't see any gnome updates, so I'm not sure how
this breakage happened. (I'm going to try going back to the old kernel
to see if this is somehow a kernel bug, but some of these don't feel
kernel related.)
