Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Using the latest Karmic Alpha on an Atom-based Netbook (Latitude 2100).

I can change display brightness with FN+Up/Down keys.
However, I cannot change brightness rapidly. The brightness notification in the
left upper corner is updated with a delay of ~ 1 second, and pressing
brightness during that time period does not change anything.
If I press very fast, the display goes up/down a brightness level for some
milliseconds, but directly returns to the original state.

Consequently, if I want to change brightness from fully dark to fully
illuminated, I have to press, wait a second, press, wait a second, ...
and so on.

During the different Karmic Alphas, there was a short period
(unfortunately, I don't remember the date) when the Ubuntu notifications
were not used for brightness, but rather those brightness notifications
with a sun in the middle of the display we know from Intrepid. The bug
was not there then, I could switch brightness without delay; so it
_might_ be caused from the notifications but this is only an assumption.

Any clues / things I should try to find the component causing this
problem?
