I've noticed this too actually, but I've not yet had time to debug it
properly. Your boot chart shows that a lot of processes remain after the
panel and nautilus die (both of which exit when told to do so by gnome-
session, so are a good indicator of where the session ends).

My session is busy building some packages at the moment, so I can't log
out just yet to test it. Would you mind logging in via a failsafe xterm
from GDM (there is an option on the lower panel after selecting your
user). Once there, please start your gnome session with "gnome-session
--debug 2>&1 | tee gnome-session.log", then try logging out again. If
you experience the delay with this, then please attach the log file to
this bug report.
