** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: yelp
+
+ This is not a problem with yelp. I tried to follow the instructions at
+ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
+ but of course there is no help menu in the search tool, just a button. In the
help window I clicked on report a problem, not so bright, and so it is coming
up as a yelp problem.

  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
  1 Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope - released in April 2009.

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
packagename' or by checking in Synaptic.
gnome-search-tool does not show up in synaptic

  3) What you expected to happen
Clicking on an html doc in search tool should bring up the html file in the
browser selected in preffered appliactions

  4) What happened instead
Clicking on an html doc in search tool brings up the html file in a different
browser
When I set a browswer in the preferred applications, the search tool, the one
under Places - gnome-search-tool I believe - does not use this browser.

  Details

I first set the preferred app to swiftweasel, which I had downloaded. It
never used swiftweasel, and always used firefox over a period of weeks.
( when I started using swiftweasel as my default browser, instead of firefox,
and wanted a different default browser, which is how I avoid my usual browser
starting up with all of the windows and tabs I'm currently using) I then set
epiphany as my default browser, and the search tool did not use this either.
A couple of days ago I switched my default browser to chromium, and today I
notice that the search tool is using chromium.
  End of problem
  not
curious, I set the preferred app to swiftweasel again. It uses chromium.
I set it to epiphany. It uses chromium.
I think that if the app set in the preffered apps dialog is one of the pull
down options, which swiftweasel was not, it does reset on a restart. Sorry,
cant test this at the moment becuase I'm running my pc 24/7. but one thing is
for sure, it's not doing what it's supposed to!
Prior to listing this as a bug I posted it as a query on ubuntu forums, but
no one has got back to me on it.
