Binary package hint: gedit
This is one really nasty bug.
I've succesfully opened an utf8-encoded file containing more than 200 lines of
text.
I copied a line of text (a simple quote, nothing to mention) from firefox to
gedit, to add it in the list.
I pressed CTRL+S to save the file, and got an error:
Unable to save as UTF-8, try another encoding. (Huh? I hit cancel.)
After hitting cancel, the "file has been modified, do you want to reload it?"
notification appears.
I still can see the contents of the file in front of my eyes, but can't modify
it (normal behaviour I think).
Curious, I reload the file:
The contents are GONE. Gedit just cleared the 200+ lines text file.
And by looking at the folder, I can confirm that the file is actually cleared.
At least I had a backup of this file.
Sorry, but I really don't know what i've copy-pasted from firefox which was
*not* utf-8.
All I know is that this should really not be normal behaviour on behalf of
gedit.
