Binary package hint: gdm
usplash no longer present by the time gdm runs 'initctl emit...'. This
causes the machine to hang. Killing the initctl process allows gdm to
start. Attached is the output of 'ps auxfww ; status upstart' just
before 'initctl emit...' is called.
