Machine tested is Acer Aspire AS5536
http://us.acer.com/acer/productv.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&kcond61e.c2att101=57644&sp=page16e&ctx2.c2att1=25&link=ln438e&CountryISOCtxParam=US&ctx1g.c2att92=447&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=1731859535

Symptom is that it boots into gui login window, progress bar rolling,
music starts playing, but then, window goes black then starts gui login
window again. Such cycling loops forever.

Test method,

1. boot from USB via

. . . iso-scan/filename=/pathto/ubuntu-xxx.iso

the same method boots ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64.iso just fine (on the
same machine).

2. boot from the burned CD, symptom is the same.

Notes:

- The md5 sum has been verified with the iso and CD.
- Same (beta6) iso boots fine from KVM.

I'm a long time Debian user but new to Ubuntu. Don't know how to start
console text booting to reveal more info for debug.

thanks
