Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

On Karmic Beta, all image files disappear from the desktop (even if the
desktop folder is viewed through a nautilus file browser) after their
thumbnails have been generated (e.g. you can see the files as long as
they have the "generating, please wait" icon).

The files still actually exist, and can be accessed through a terminal.

If the file was saved from an external application, the file will never
show up. If the file was copied to the desktop from a nautilus file
browser, the file will disappear after refreshing the desktop (F5).

Only actual images seems to be affected. An empty file with an image
extension is not disappearing.
