You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Ubuntu's file type determiner parses mp3, other media files and returns "plain
text document". This means that:
- it will open with the associated editor for plain text documents, i.e. gedit
- changing the default association from the Properties dialog to Totem will
change association for text files too
- you can't do the mouse-over audio preview trick in desktop/nautilus as it's
supposedly "only for audio files".
