Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
After booting the karmic beta 64bit live cd on my laptop, when I select System
/ Administration / Time and Date a dialog
pops up with "the Configuration could not be loaded: an unknown error
occurred". It looks like things are working
afteward, but I can't set the timezone. It looks like everything worked, but
when you go back again the timezone is
still unset.
I ran it from a terminal and got a little more error message
information:
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo time-admin
(time-admin:3164): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error communicating
with the backends: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 0
ubu...@ubuntu:~$
Not being able to set the timezone wreaks havoc with some applications,
notably mythtv, where the program entries are all off by n hours.
This bug was present in the earlier alphas (both 64bit and 32bit).
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd
