Like previous poster, can confirm since the latest shared-mime-info
update in Karmic.
Every single file is identified as text/plain.
Easily fixed with:
sudo update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
sudo update-desktop-database
--
File type determiner parses mp3, other media files and returns "plain text
document"
