Please remember everyone that this bug is not limited to Evince. It is a Gnome bug. Once this error starts appearing, you would not be able to print from gedit or evolution or anything else that uses gnome libs.
This is an absolute trainwreck of a bug for anyone but the most experienced Linux gurus. The simple fix that I have suggested several times now is to disable that wretched bit of code that checks for too many failed attempts, but this idea has continually been ignored and this bug has been continually relegated to a lower level of importance. And yes, it will probably continue in Karmic. But we're just a bunch of stupid users of free software, plagued by a bug that only affects people who use printers, which is now a minority.
