Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: yelp
This bug has been found using Ubuntu 9.10 (amd64). I can't be precise on
the package responsible for the bug, but here is all the info i've
found.
My audio card had been detected and configured previously and was
running smoothly on Ubuntu 9.04, after upgrading to 9.10 no audio card
is detected. Some info directly from the command line:
$ cat /proc/asound/devices
2: : timer
3: : sequencer
4: [ 0- 2]: digital audio capture
5: [ 0- 1]: digital audio playback
6: [ 0- 0]: digital audio playback
7: [ 0- 0]: digital audio capture
8: [ 0- 6]: digital audio playback
9: [ 0- 6]: digital audio capture
10: [ 0- 1]: hardware dependent
11: [ 0- 0]: hardware dependent
12: [ 0] : control
$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xfc400000 irq 22
I was hoping alsaconf was around, but it wasn't. So looking for help i found
that i could do "alsactl init" and see what it says.
$ alsactl init
Unknown hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Realtek ALC883" "HDA:10573055,10573055,00100700
HDA:10ec0883,10190000,00100002" "0x1019" "0x90a6"
This is all i got so far. I can try some more things on demand, if it
helps to fix the bug. Still if i go to audio preferences, i have nothing
shown in the hardware tab nor in the output tab (ok, there says
something like "simple stereo" in the output tab). The main problem is
that the audio card isnt being found.
