Just installed a new 9.10 Karmic. Even though I have specified auto login in the new, very truncated gdmsetup-like UI, I don't log back in automatically. This a very bad thing because I use the machine via a remote desktop, and I need to be able to log out and then have X automatically log me back in again, as I have long done in Jaunty. It doesn't work at all; I must log back in at the console and there is no other choice, apparently. When I'm remote, my only choice is to log in via ssh and reboot the entire machine, since I'm away from the console.
This was not a problem in jaunty; the old gdmsetup actually worked. The new one evidently does not work, and lacks even a way to do this. I also tried manually tweaking /etc/gdm/custom.conf and restarting gdm. It made no difference. Here's what my custom.conf looks like after tweaking: [daemon] TimedLoginEnable=true AutomaticLoginEnable=true TimedLogin=michel AutomaticLogin=michel TimedLoginDelay=1 -- despite changing the optios in setting for login, the auto login does not work. it it set but doesnt work. expecienced on acer aspire one a110 ubuntu 9.04 NBR https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/407527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
