I came across this

http://davestechsupport.com/blog/2009/01/16/how-to-remove-ubuntus-
password-keyring/

which babbles on about the computer asking for a password to unlock the keyring
when it started up. Not quite what we have been experiencing, but it is still
related to passwords and the keyring. Any way, it tells you how to delete the
keyring and then goes on to tell you to restart and when asked for a password
for the keyring to leave it blank.
I can remember that I left the password blank with the fresh install of 9.10,
which still isn't asking for passwords (yet).

If this doesn't work couldn't you just uninstall the keyring?
